This Research will be guided by two questions

What is the correlation between tweeting in one geographical location at a similar time to the occurrence of an Earthquake even if it is not in that place?

Relationship between the occurrences of the earthquake to the speed of tweeting

For purposes of analyzing this paper, we will track the movement of tweets, which are made after the recording of an earthquake in the US in different parts. These tweets begin with the first tweet one being noted 8/19/2014 at 1:10:00 PM to the last, Tweet on 9/8/2014 at 4:28:00 AM. The first important task in carrying out this research is to identify tweets that were specific to the earthquake. The classification relied on being able to identify those messages, which would be said to be unconcerned, and those that would be said to be of concern. Most of the unconcerned messages are mostly individuals making notation of how they have observed the quake and acting in the position of notification. The same classifications involve individuals who are retweeting other people’s tweets. It should be noted that there are a number of broadcasting stations and institutions that used twitter to make their communication and transfer of information regarding the earthquake.

The first incidence is recorded from individuals in the same geographical location where they are noted to be at Fort Worth. Their tweets are made in almost three minutes but are later followed by other tweets from other geographical area, which take more than twenty minutes. In overall terms looking at the all the tweets reveals that the speed of tweets in different locations seems to take a longer time compared to the tweets that occur in the same location. However, once a tweet is received in two or more different locations at the same time, the number tweets that would follow in the same locations happens to be even or at least the two locations share equally in the number of tweets that follow. The first Tweet was recorded by a news agency as a notification to the public on the existing Earthquake. The second tweet was a rephrase, which was followed tweets by other individuals making comments and propositions which would portray both emotions and spiraling all over the internet to show the magnitude and to communicate the existence of the earth quake.

Communicating by relying on emotion plays an essential role towards an increase in the responses of a message from one parts or area to influencing individuals in other geographical areas participating in making comments and adding their views. Other events that have been documented in regards to how individuals make comments include adding humor with of tweet noting an earthquake is earths way of doing the Harlem shake. Such views may not get a retweets but from the data presented they have has shown to encourage other individuals in other parts of the globe to comment to and share what they think.
