This wealth, however, was accumulated in the Northern parts of the country as the South had suffered from secessionist trend and conflict with the North. This boom created an impression of exemplary life in the United States that stirred massive immigrations by Europeans into the country with about 27.5 million persons arriving in the country between 1865 and 1918. This provided a recipe for a large market base for local products thus promoting industrialization and labor base for the agricultural, railway and textile industries.
