UNREACHED PEOPLE OF BEDOUIN, TAJAKANT IN ALGERIA
Abstract
Genesis 12:3c expresses the nature of God as a missionary God who want to bless all the people. God promise Abraham in this verse that through him ‘mispahot’ (races of subdivision of national and ethnic groups) will be blessed[1]. This means that the gospel is supposed to bless all the ethnic and racial groups (ta ethne) around the world as quoted by Paul in Galatians 3:8. The mission of God as manifested by the ministry of Jesus Christ, is to expand the kingdom of heaven by reaching to the Jews and Gentiles alike. When talking about His second coming, Jesus said that that the gospel of the kingdom will have been preached to “the whole world as a testimony to all nations’before the end of ages come (Mathew 24: 14). The message underscores the centrality of winning souls for the kingdom of heaven to all groups, and races as envisaged in the great commission to go and make disciples of all nations (Mathew 28:18-20)[2]. The Joshua Project posits that 40.3% of the people groups around the world are not reached and 42.1% of the individuals are not reached[3].
According to this Joshua Project of the 16601 groups of people around the world, 9000 of them have strong Christian foundation that can enable them to carry out evangelism to their own people. In as much as this is good news, there still remains more than 7000 groups of people around the world that yet to be reached[4]. Given the emerging evangelical challenges around the world such as radicalization and secularization, and the percentage of evangelical population has remained less than 2% there is a critical need for development of customer evangelism strategies that will help not only to reach the unreached but also raised the number of the evangelical community. For this reason, this project looks at unreached people of Bedouin, Tajakant in Algeria in light of the level of evangelism and the appropriate evangelism strategies that can be used to reach to them. The study will first evaluate their background, then the current strategies will be evaluated before giving the recommended strategy that will be effective in reaching this group of people.
