The origin of the Euchee language is not really known since it does not resemble any other American language. Existing evidences shows that there were several Euchee towns in the 18th century than there are currently. Most of the Euchee speakers were forcibly relocated to Oklahoma in the early 19th century. Moreover even though they had an opportunity to separate themselves from the Mvskoke creeks in 1938, they totally refused to do so. Their leadership was under the traditional chief, they were able to maintain strong cultural and linguistic traditions until the 1950s. At the moment only a few elderly speakers of the Euchee language still remain. The current population of Euchee community was estimated to be about 2,400 by the year 2010.However, the number of native Euchee speakers has continued to dwindle over the years, as those remaining do not speak fluent Euchee.
