- The frontal lobe controls so many functions that damage to it can lead to major repercussions. It is involved in “motor function, problem solving, spontaneity, memory, language, initiation, judgement, impulse control, and social and sexual behavior” (Centre for Neuroskills 2016). Damage to the left frontal lobe will affect language and verbal skills as well as positive emotions while damage on the right frontal lobe will affect a person’s capacity to communicate non-verbally, and perception of negative emotions. There is no known cure for frontal lobe damage but physical, speech and behavioral therapy may restore lost functions.
