In earlier studies of mechanical disfigurement under connected stress, Hooke found that the deformity was directly relative to the stress for small deformations. The simplest of these observations was made by Young for extensions or contractions of a slim pole under pivotal burden. For a model of a bar with rectangular cross section of range da and length l the degree of the stress, the connected pivotal force separated by the cross sectional territory, to the strain, the change long dl isolated by the length is a constant. Stress has dimension of force for every unit territory, or, less regularly, force for every unit length (Michael 2010).

Discussion 2:   Hooke’s law is a concept in physics which states that there is a proportionality between stress and strain; and that if these two forces are small enough the stress and strain will balance enough that an object will not break. Stress is defined as the strength of the force associated with the stretch, squeeze, or twist, usually on a ‘force’ per ‘unit area’ basis. Strain describes the deformation that occurs. As mentioned above these two are ideally proportional: constant= stress/strain.

There are four different types of stress: tensile stress, shear stress, compressive stress, volume stress. These different types all describe different motions associated with the stress itself. In tensile stress opposed forces stretch. In Shear Stress opposed forces twist.  In compressive stress opposed forces compress, and in volume stress, stress is applied through pressure push down by water (a woman swimming in a pool). The major problem with Hooke’s law is that; stresses are not always proportional. As more of one gets added there is a potential for breakage. In other words, the proportionality between stress and strain in elastic deformation has a limited range of validity.

The discussion confirms that the strain in the material is characterized by the regular degree of change in the logarithm of the last dimension of the material. The significance of the discussion shows that muscles and tendons that compose the muscle fibers tear when subje...
