Task Description: For this task you are required to write a 1500 word reflective essay. In your essay you need to apply Gibb’s (1988) reflective model to: a. reflect on and describe an experience in which the concepts of leadership and management practice were demonstrated in your workplace, and b. critically analyse the experience with reference to relevant leadership and management theories, and c. propose/recommend actions that you would take in future if the situation occurs again. NOTE - use current literature to support your discussion and reflection. Whilst there are a lot of readings provided in the Study Guide, it is expected that you will find some additional literature to respond to the task.
You should structure your essay using the following headings: Introduction - Introduce the topic to ensure the reader can contextualise the paper. Description- Describe what happened. Feelings – Analyse your thoughts and feelings during and after the experience and relate these to relevant literature. Evaluation – What were the positive and negative outcomes in the situation? Analysis – Highlight the factors involved in the situation and relate these to relevant literature. Conclusion – Discuss what else you and/or others could have done and relate this to relevant literature.
