Community report Name: Institution: Community report Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women and Children is a catholic charity establishment that provides services to over 1,000 women and children in the Los Angeles area in California. The center was established in 1984 with a 30 bed shelter under the care of Sister Julia Mary Farley who was given the mandate of leading the program CITATION Goo15 l 1033 (Good Shepherd Center, 2015). However, back in the day the shelter was meant to be a drop in center for women who were living in the streets. In the next eight years following its establishment, Good Shepherd expanded to include children its services as well providing transitional residence serving and also added a mobile program that provides food, shelter and hope to women who were living in the streets. Today, Good Shepherd Shelter provides home to over 1,000 women or 45 children and 93 women every night. It also provides a home to women who have either been divorced, lost their job or homes.
