Introduction

Variables are both tricky and important when carrying out a social research. The variables can be measured and manipulated in a scientific research. For this reason all the research projects are based on the variables. A variable can be defined as an attribute or characteristic of a group, individual, educational system, group, or the environment which is of interest in the research study. A variable can be easy to measure and straight forward such as age, gender, while other variables can be complex, such as the socioeconomic status attitude toward something, and academic achievement (Becker, 2015). This means that after the general topic or problem for the research has been identified it is instrumental to establish key variables of interest. Identifying key variables helps to provide the focus of the research introduction and research method. Key research instruments measures key variables and as such a valid research has to have manipulate and measurable variables.

Dependent Variables

The dependent variables is the one that the researcher has an interest in. this variable is derived or affected by the independent variable. The researcher uses all the valid and reliable techniques to measure the dependent variables. As such the dependent variable is the one that changes as a result of the change of the independent variable and when plotted on a graph it is put on Y-axis (Fraenkel et al., 2013).
