Introduction

Distributed database management systems play an essential role in synchronizing data allowing multiple users who may try to access these systems to view the content that other users are able to see. Distributed DBMS rely on the existing database technology for integration of computer networks and for the distribution of information in these databases. Distributed DBMS focuses on ensuring transparent management of the distributed replicated or fragmented data, increasing the level of reliability on all the transaction in these systems, increasing the performance of the systems since the systems are fully fledged to integration towards their economic expansion. In each of these, a mix of certain factors also known as the model is required to anticipate the needs.

Problem Statement and Motivation

In the 21st century, Distributed database management systems have played an essential role of increasing efficiency by linking different aspects of the organizations systems to perform as one. The concern on how to maintain this linkage by understanding the existing models to anticipate new needs not only in the future of systems but also in increasing the efficiency has often aroused interests in comprehending how the systems carry out their roles. The need to understand models that are applied in organization arises since one has to choose a model that best fits their interest especially on aspects such as efficiency and dependency. Autonomous models as Elmasri & Navathe (2014) proposes have been preferred due to their increased flexibility and dependency between departments.

Background

            Distributed DBMS often have different components and issues, which are the underlying basis to how the systems operate. The first component refers to the distributed database design and explains how distributed databases work, ways of managing the directory and replicated and non-replicated database distribution.
