The ‘I Am Chapman’ campaign on our campus was created to foster an appreciation and awareness of diversity, inclusion, equity and social justice for all. We celebrate our students’ individuality in all of its forms including their race, ethnicity, interests, ability, geographic background, experiences, culture, religion and opinions. Given the diverse perspectives and backgrounds of our community, the admission committee would like to know what makes you ‘Chapman?’

Admission Essay

Being part of an organization that has people with a high level of diversity and understanding has been part of my hope ever since I was young. My parents always taught me that to do well in other parts of my life whether it’s the professional or the social life, I need to associate with people from different parts of the world and who are cultured differently than I have. Such a level of association allows one comprehend how people interact by relying on the different aspects they have been introduced to.

My second motivation is guided by the fact the issue of race still dominates as an issue of concern globally, yet everyone seems to have accepted that people should be victimized rather than being viewed as a factor of diversity. I hope that by being a chapman I will be able to show the world that people can interact with less concern on ones race.
