The ship sailors are consistently offered meat that is already rotten as their stable food. This is in spite of their frequent complaints of the presence of maggots in these foods. These frequent complaints do not however, change anything as the sailors are forced to go angry due to lack of food. They turn against their superiors and form an uprising, which results into a hierarchical change in the boat, sending the rebels into a spiral of power. This film has vividly indicated the significance of food in creating authority since those who are able to control it are the one with strength to control others. Officers at the Battleship Potemkin want to have a grip on the rest of the sailors and the trick they employ is controlling the entire of the sailor`s food.
