Following a rough childhood, Kinji Fukasaku decided to pass across the message of crime through film, instead of engaging in criminal activity. He hailed from Mito in Japan, where he was born in July 3, 1930 (Buchnan, 2017). As a teenager during the Second World War, Fukasaku worked in an artillery factory that was often bombed. The war experiences and the violent movies he watched in Japan influenced his view on violence. Following World War II, the education system in Japan was in disarray and Fukasaku had to drop out of school and spend hours at the movies.
